Definitely true.

Favorites? ... that's really hard to say

Sometimes the whole process is fun and exciting.
Sometimes I'd rather have a root canal!
A lot rides on the client, and how well you work together,
how prepared and organized they are, how many people are involved in the decision-making process, etc., etc. (More than one or two minds can certainly be good, but if too many "layers" of approvals are needed it can lead to "analysis paralysis!")

We'll be glad to have your expertise here.
DM is not something I have a great deal of experience with.
I'm an Internet Marketing gal, but I do see the real need for companies to continue using DM methods in their marketing efforts.

Since you're a designer, I'm sure you've done tons of newsletters, brochures, sell sheets, flyers, catalogs, etc. What are your favorites?
